Blog on collective psychological ownership on Stuk Rood Vlees
Tom Nijs wrote a blog post on the Dutch political science blog Stuk Rood Vlees about his paper on collective psychological ownership that was recently published in the British Journal of Social Psychology. He explains the main findings of his research that he conducted together with Borja Martinovic, Maykel Verkuyten, and Constantine Sedikides. They showed that the belief that the country is ‘ours’ and therefore ‘we’ have the exclusive right to determine what happens, related to more negative attitudes towards immigrants and the EU (in the Netherlands and Great Britain), which in turn accounted for voting in favour of Brexit (in Great Britain).
Stuk Rood Vlees is a Dutch weblog that links political scientific research to political news. The aim of the weblog is to make political scientific research more accessible for a wider audience. Check out the Dutch blog post on the Stuk Rood Vlees website.
